Cleveland Men's RTX-3 Cavity Back Tour Satin Wedges

Get Closer To The Hole With Added Forgiveness From New Cleveland Golf Wedges

From a performance standpoint, RTX-3 Cavity Back wedges were designed to accomplish the same thing as RTX-3 wedges, that being to help golfers get the ball closer to the hole both from the fairway and around the green. To accomplish that goal, Cleveland utilized three crucial design elements. First, the center of gravity in the RTX-3 Cavity Back wedges has been moved away from the hosel and closer to the center of the clubface, with the result being improved feel, enhanced stability, and tighter shot dispersion. Also of note, RTX-3 CB wedges utilize a new V Sole Grind that improves turf interaction, which was accomplished by adding bounce to the leading edge. Because these wedges glide through the turf so effortlessly, clubhead speeds remain consistent, enabling players to hit the ball more precise yardages. Finally, a new Rotex clubface improves and creates more consistent spin from all turf conditions. The new Tour Zip Grooves are now deeper and narrower for more spin, while the micro-milling pattern is angled on higher lofted wedges to increase spin on shots played with an open clubface. What is different about the CB model, however, is its shape. It has a larger overall profile that was designed to inspire confidence and provide increased forgiveness. RTX-3 Cavity Back wedges are available in a Tour Satin finish.

Ideal For:

Golfers who are looking for tour-proven performance but also desire increased forgiveness in a wedge. The larger overall profile of the RTX-3 Cavity Back will make this wedge a great option for golfers who are used to the larger profiles of many game-improvement irons. That said, while the profile is slightly larger than RTX-3, it still has a clean look and maintains the classic shape that Cleveland wedges are known for. Of course, picking the right dot or grind is imperative in terms of performance, so players need to understand who each model was designed for and choose accordingly.

Feel Balancing Technology

By saving weight from the hosel design, the CG was able to be moved closer to the center of the clubface to improve feel, stability, and dispersion.

V Sole Grinds

More bounce has been added to the leading edge to improve turf interaction, creating more consistent speed through the shot and more consistent results. In terms of helping consumers pick the right wedges for their game, Cleveland is again using its dot system. One-dot wedges, also labeled as V-LG (V Sole, low bounce), are designed for players with shallow angles of attack and will work well from firmer turf and sand conditions. Three-dot wedges, meanwhile, also labeled as V-FG (high bounce, full sole), will work best for players with steeper angles of attack and from softer turf and sand conditions. Finally, two-dot models, or V-MG (mid bounce), are the most neutral designs and will work well for a wide variety of players and from all turf conditions.

New Rotex Face

New Tour Zip Grooves are deeper and more narrow to increase spin, especially from the rough. Additionally, the micro-milling on higher lofts (54-64) is angled to keep spin rates high on shots played with an open clubface.

What They're Saying...

“For RTX-3, we went back to the fundamentals of wedge design. We have three key technologies in this wedge, each aimed for more consistency and to help players get the ball closer to the hole.”

Brian Schielke, Cleveland/Srixon Golf Senior Product Manager

“The long hosels typically used in wedges pull weight toward the heel. But average players usually miss out toward the toe. We moved nine grams of weight away from the hosel and the CG is now closer to the center of the clubface. It took a lot of design work to keep that Cleveland look and shape, but that really has created a tighter dispersion.”

Brian Schielke, Cleveland/Srixon Golf Senior Product Manager

“Great looking club visually. What really stood out was the feel. The center of gravity being moved away from the heel really gave these clubs a soft feel at impact.”

Chris Wallace, TGW Staff Writer

“I think a great thing about this line is the cavity back option. This cavity back really performed well. It had a larger overall profile that I think inspires confidence. It was really easy to hit in the air, which I think is a problem that a lot of higher-handicap players have with wedges, so I think this cavity back model for a higher-handicap player or a senior golfer who maybe doesn’t generate as much clubhead speed is going to be a really fantastic product.”

What is the difference between a 10 or 11 or 12 Bounce rating mean on a 56 degree Cleveland wedge?

Asked by: bp51
The higher the bounce angle, the less tendency the club will have to dig into the ground.

I am 75 and 20 handicap.  What does bounce, grind mean & what would you recommend for me?

Asked by: Mister P
The bounce and grind options describe the sole of the club. A recommendation would depend on knowing your swing type. If you have a shallow angle of attack to the golf ball and don't take much of a divot, the LG low bounce model would be ideal. If you have a steep angle of attack and take deeper divots, the FG high bounce model would work best for you. The MG mid bounce option is a neutral grind designed to fit most golfers.

Do the RTX 3 wedges come with 30 day playability guarantee?

Asked by: DaveS365
I'm sorry, these wedges are not under the 30 day playability guarantee. They would need to be in new and unused condition to be return for a refund or credit.

I want to order the P-SW-L wedges. I have a gap wedge so I'm not sure what loft I should get for the P, but I'm thinking 56 & 60 for the SW & the L wedge. I really have no idea what to do with the bounce on all 3 wedges. Age 76-hcp 10

Asked by: seagull
You'll want to keep the same difference in lofts between your wedges to ensure proper distance gapping. The bounce/sole grind will depend on what your swing is like and the ground you play on. If you have a shallow attack angle and/or play on firmer turf, you'll want the V-LG option. If you have a steeper angle of attack and/or play on softer ground, you'll want the V-FG option. For a variety of swings and turf conditions, check out the V-MG option.
