Wilson Men's FG Tour V6 Irons

Classic Look And Feel, Unexpected Forgiveness

Wilson has produced great golf products on a regular basis for decades, but as a company it is probably best known for its irons, and more specifically its players irons. New to the lineup this year will be the Staff FG Tour V6 irons, which are vintage Wilson in terms of look. These forged irons feature thin toplines, compact blade shapes, and minimal offset. They also excel from a feel and acoustic standpoint, having been forged from soft 8620 Carbon Steel. That said, for an iron that looks like a true blade at address, the V6 is surprisingly forgiving. That forgiveness is made possible by tungsten weighting and additional mass that has been utilized in the cavity behind the clubface. As for the tungsten, it’s utilized in the toe and heel of the long irons and the center of the sole in the mid-irons to lower CG and improve MOI and launch conditions. The stock shaft for the Staff V6 irons is the True Temper Dynamic Gold AMT, which is available in regular, stiff, and extra stiff flexes, and the stock grip is a black Lamkin Crossline.

Ideal For:

Low- and mid-handicap golfers. Based on appearance alone, the FG Tour V6 ions look like they were created for only the most talented ball-strikers, but that’s really not the case, as these irons offer ample forgiveness for their category. That said, it’s still from a control, workability, and feel standpoint where these irons will excel. But for the mid-handicap player who values those attributes, the V6 won’t prove be too demanding in terms of playability.

Tungsten Weighting

By utilizing tungsten weighting in the long and mid irons, the CG is lowered for effortless launch and enhanced MOI.

Impact Area Mass

Additional mass has been incorporated in the cavity design to enhance feel, feedback, and workability.

8620 Carbon Steel Forging

The forging process using soft 8620 Carbon Steel ensures superior sound and feel at impact.

What They're Saying ...

“(There is) a lot of mass right behind the impact area, almost 40 grams in fact, which allows that workability but still a little bit of forgiveness. This is certainly geared toward the better players in the world and low-handicappers, (but) there’s no reason why an 8 or a 10, especially somebody who’s willing to practice and aspires to get their handicap lower, (can’t play this iron). It could be a great option for them.”

Michael Vrska, Wilson Golf Global Director of Innovation

“This is a forged golf club; 8620 carbon steel, nickel chrome plating, all that you’d expect in a Wilson Staff classic forged iron but with some real technology in it. That technology really starts with tungsten inserts.”

Michael Vrska, Wilson Golf Global Director of Innovation

What Players Like You Are Saying ...

“Honestly, I loved them. They were probably my favorite. They’re a little bit thinner of a blade but still it seemed like extremely forgiving. When you hit one in the sweet spot it just feels so flush.”

TGW customer Miles, 8 handicap

“They were very, very good. Not only did they come off hot but really soft feel as well. It was great.”

TGW customer Jay, +4 handicap

Wilson Men's FG Tour V6 Irons #4-GW Dynamic Gold Pro Steel is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 43.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from I can't praise this club enough Unbelievable club. Buttery soft feel, forgiving, fantastic slim players look, flight is ideal, lofts are traditional yet you'll still get your distances that you got with your juiced up Callaways. If you're looking to transition to a more player type iron look no further. Paired with the AMT shaft its an AMAZING set up. These things are sexy. Look awesome in the bag. Nice and shiny. People notice. "Wilson's aye"? "Um yes, the Wil is back!" This is the club of the decade. My one item is Wilson grip options. I like branded grips and they only came in standard size so I had to replace with store bought mid-size grips.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great feel! I got these clubs 2 months ago. These are by far the best clubs i have ever hit. The confidence standing over them is amazing! The feel when you hit a good shot, is better than ever, and the ballflight is pure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredible Feel, Amazing Performance I have had these irons for over a year now, and I can easily say they are the best feeling irons I have ever played. I have played competitive golf for years, and these offer me the feel and performance needed to perform at my highest levels. If you can get a better performing club for a more affordable price, why wouldn't you?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An all around great set of irons. I've been gaming these since last October and probably have 30 rounds under my belt with them. I wanted to wait to leave a review because at first I was a little disheartened with the purchase. When I first played with my irons things were inconsistent even though I felt like I was making solid enough contact. I don't know if they got bumped around in shipping or what, but the specs were way off of what I ordered. Once I got that dialed in they have been great; easily workable, great feedback, pure sound, consistent, really everything I was looking for in a set of irons. I will say I moved from game improvement irons to these and the v6's are about a club shorter, but once I got used to the distances I don't mind the trade-off at all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Performance I purchased Wilson FG Tour V6 irons based on performance, looks and feel. I resisted the urge to purchase on marketing hype and went with the best option for me. I could not be more pleased and confident in my V6 irons. Two weeks in the bag and finally over the hump...2018 Club Champion!! When you find the perfect iron set, of course you order a backup set. Limited Edition RAW V6 irons on the way. Thanks Wilson!!!

can the loft and lie angles be adjusted without effects the play ability of the clubs? playing TaylorMade m4 irons now--your clubs are 4-5 degrees weaker in loft?

Asked by: dave
Custom loft and lie angles can be specified by using the Enter Custom Specs tab located above the photo of the club. All custom orders are built and shipped by the manufacturer, in this case Wilson Staff, so those adjustments will not have any effects to the playability of the clubs.

Are these irons available in custom specs?

Asked by: Lee s
It appears that these irons are not available for customization. When a club is available for customization, a tab labeled Enter Custom Specs will appear above the photo of the club.

Are these clubs recommended for 20 handicappers or not? Are the clubs considered cavity backed? Also, what is the difference between a forged club and one that is not? Thank you.

Asked by: Joseph
A 20 handicap golfer could play these irons. They are a blend of classic players iron looks with game improvement elements such as added forgiveness. They are a cavity back iron. Forged irons are made from a solid piece of metal where as cast irons are poured into a mold. Forged irons generally have a softer, more responsive feel.

I see many answers saying that this club can't be custom ordered. Just curious if you have an explanation as to why? Custom fitting and custom options are a huge part of the golf club industry these days.

Asked by: Example Keith
Thanks Brady. So it sounds like it's a Wilson Staff issue correct? They don't take custom orders? If so, that seems like a bad look for them as they are trying to get their footing back in the golf industry. I have a set of V4's and they are fantastic. Was interested in the V6's but really only to make some modifications to the specs. As is, I might as well stay with my V4's. As I mentioned earlier, it just seems odd given how big custom fitting has become in golf. Not offering the options to get the proper lie angle, grip, shaft, etc. out of the gate is not a good selling point for Wilson which is a shame given that their product line over the last few years has greatly improved. Feel free to pass that along to them. Anyway, thanks for your answer.
