Q & A

Titleist Men's 718 AP3 Irons

AP1 Distance, Launch, and Forgiveness

Titleist is out with its 718 line of irons, and while there are six models in all for players to choose from it’s the AP3 that is garnering the most attention. It’s also receiving significant interest thanks to an impressive technology story. Most notably, the AP3 mid and long irons are a hollow blade construction, which allowed engineers to create a low, deep CG position that makes the longer irons extremely forgiving and easy to launch. Weight also has been pushed to the perimeter of the clubhead to further increase MOI, and the construction approach enabled a thinner clubface that’s creating more ball speed and distance.

Features:

  • The long and mid irons feature a slightly longer blade length and tungsten weighting in the heel and toe to maximize performance and deliver more consistent results even on poor strikes.
  • The short irons feature smaller blade sizes and a more traditional construction that promotes enhanced control on scoring shots.
  • Features a clean classic shaping of its AP2 irons, which is ultimately how AP3 earned its name.
  • The 718 AP3 irons come standard with Golf Pride Tour Velvet grips. They also feature the mid-launching True Temper AMT Black as a stock shaft, but Titleist is also offering other premium aftermarket shafts at no upcharge to fit any player’s profile needs.
Hollow Blade Construction

Hollow Blade Construction

Allows weight to be pushed to the perimeter for improved performance on mis-hits while also enabling a thinner clubface for faster ball speeds and more distance.

Tungsten Weighting

Tungsten Weighting

An average of more than 80 grams of high-density tungsten positioned in the heel and toe of the long and mid irons creates more forgiveness on mis-hits and increased stability at impact.

Progressive Set Design

Progressive Set Design

Longer blade lengths in the long and mid irons encourage higher MOI and launch conditions, while more compact blades in the shorter irons promote optimal control.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best irons ever I bought these clubs several weeks ago and I love them. The look of these clubs is phenomenal and make you believe that you can hit every ball solid. The feel of the club is awesome as well and gives you instant feedback as to how you contacted the ball. These clubs are so much better than my TaylorMade Preferred irons.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Smooth and Easy! The irons are great so far. Only been to the range but they are smooth and easy. I had them customized because I am 6'8" and need the extra length and stiffness in the shaft. I have a 5 handicap so I am looking to get that down to a 2 with these irons!! Awesome feel and added about 10 yards to each club........

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Great Custom Experience I finally bit the bullet and upgraded my decade old Callaway clubs and decided I wanted custom Titleist clubs. The AP series is what I set my mind on and after researching the specs of my old clubs decided the AP3 was the set for me. Beautiful to look at and an incredible ball/hit feel off the face. Now it's still the middle of the winter so I have only hit them at the range, but if the pratice sessions are any indicator, I will be loving even my worst rounds this spring and summer season.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great irons! These irons are perfect for the mid handicapper like myself. I enjoy playing a more compact iron, but still need a bit of help. The ap3s are perfect. They look great at address, but are still very forgiving.

Can I get graphite, stiff shaft, forged blades, 4-P, all in a nice AP-3 bundle

Asked by: Satchmo
These clubs do not have a stock graphite shaft option available. To select a graphite shaft, please use the Enter Custom Specs tab located above the photo of the club. There you can select your shaft and flex as well as the clubs you want included in your set. Thank you!

I see that I can customize the loft on the AP3 to 2 degrees weaker. Is everything else the same about the club? (meaning only the clubhead has a higher loft--the shaft or lie angle is not altered?)

Asked by: TF19
That is correct, if you only select adjustments to the loft, only the loft will be customized.
