Q & A

TaylorMade Men's MCGB Irons

The new M CGB irons are a super game-improvement entry from TaylorMade, its first in the last few years, and they have been designed to complement the company’s popular M1 and M2 irons as part of the M family. Where the M CGB irons will excel is in terms of distance and forgiveness. As it relates to distance, what’s most notable is that every club in the set offers nearly max COR, which means even with the short irons players can count on explosive distance numbers.

  • Tungsten weighting in four ports on the back of the club create a low, deep CG position that provides incredibly stability at impact, as well as naturally high launch conditions.
  • An ultra-thin clubface has been utilized to produce fast ball speeds
  • A Speed Pocket on the sole and Face Slots on the clubface work together to protect ball speed on poor strikes to maintain distance and offer better overall performance on mis-hits.
  • TaylorMade has used a 3D sound management badge and Hybrar damper to create a softer feel and better acoustics than what many other irons in the super game-improvement category can offer.
  • Stock shafts: Nippon N.S. Pro 840 (steel) or UST Recoil 460 ES (graphite)
  • Stock grip: TaylorMade Dual Feel

Tungsten Weighting

Rated 5 out of 5 by from TaylorMade - scored big with this one! One of the most forgiving clubs that I have ever hit. Definitely adds distance as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Would buy again Have had these for a few months now and love them. Mine were made for me but would use the standard off the rack one. They are very forgiving, it feels like I never hit a bad shot. I even picked up the distance I had lost with my old set. I don't have to worrying about going for the flag no matter where it is on the green. The only problem is I wish they would have come out sooner.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great clubs Very easy to hit straight and high,I don't hit down enough on the ball so the help with ball height is awesome. Just wish the new hybrids were sold separate now that I already bought the irons

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Takes iron height to a new level I have been playing TM Speedblade irons since they launched. I like the blade look they have but the needed forgiveness built-in. Nothing I have is standard and all sets have been customized to my fittings by TM Experience. While I love my Speedblade's and still hit them well, I am turning 50 and decided I needed a more forgiving club to help me going forward. I was really hoping for more height especially in longer clubs and was not looking for more distance, but got both. The first time I put these in play I was amazed at the high launch and easy distance I was getting. I am able to swing smoother and still get more distance. I have more than doubled my shot height window that I see when looking up from the swing and even with increased launch angle I am still seeing the ball carry on average 1/2 club farther than before. I actually notice more distance improvement from shorter irons and less distance improvement in longer irons but much higher launch across all clubs. It has made playing Par 3's fun again. I am only 5 rounds in on these new clubs so not completely dialed in yet. I am having trouble working them left or right to tucked pins. They just want to go straight which is not bad, just different from blades. The ability to drop it in from ridiculous height is alleviating the need to work it in to a pin from lower heights. Not real sure how I will be able to play these in high wind conditions, but with continued practice I hope to be able to flight them a little. They will never be wind cheaters.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from M CGB Irons These clubs are amazing. you can shape shots or just go for straight out distance. Mine are custom but i imagine that the standard version is just as good. I recently played a round in the rain and I did not lose my grip at all. Whenever i do have a bad shot the forgiveness is amazing it rarely ventured from the fairway and stayed mostly on my line. The only problem with them was I was underestimating the distance and that is a very good problem so when you get them do not go play in a tournament soon play a few rounds or go to the range and find the distance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Terrific clubs! Great feel and distance on off center contact. Very much like the 2008 R7 CGB MAX.
