Q & A

TaylorMade Men's 2017 M2 Irons

Sleek New Package, Same Explosive Distance And Launch

TaylorMade hit a homerun with its original M2 irons and is back with an enhanced model in 2017 that’s offering the same impressive distance and launch along with more forgiveness and a sleeker overall package. The new M2 irons feature a thinner topline and shallower blade height that combine to create a more compact look, and Face Slots have been added to the design to help preserve ball speed on shots that are struck from the heel or toe. Also helping to protect ball speed is a redesigned Speed Pocket that has a thinner wall, which improves performance on shots struck low on the face while also creating higher launch conditions. Additionally, a lighter fluted hosel has been used in the design that saves weight and enables an even lower, deeper CG, and a new bend slot has been incorporated in the hosel design to give players more ability to adjust loft and lie to fit their needs. And finally, the new M2 irons feature was TaylorMade has introduced as Geocoustic engineering, which utilizes a combination of geometric shaping and acoustic management in the design to enhance sound and feel at impact. TaylorMade is offering two stock shaft options in the new M2 irons, the REAX HL 88 steel by FST and the M2 REAX graphite, the latter of which will vary in weight depending on the shaft flex chosen (S-75g, R-65g, A-55g). Other custom shaft options will also be available at no upcharge.

Ideal For:

Golfers of all ability levels who are looking for higher launch conditions and more distance out of their irons. TaylorMade’s new M2 irons are without question a game-improvement offering, but they’re not only for high handicappers, especially given their new, more streamlined look. Any player who needs a few more yards and a higher ball flight to improve their iron play can benefit from the M2 irons, which is why they’ll likely wind up in the bags of players with very different playing profiles and why they’ll be a great option for women and seniors.

Face Slots

Help maintain faster ball speeds on shots hit from the heel or toe, which improves mis-hit performance and improves consistency.

Face Slots

Speed Pocket

Redesigned with a thinner wall, the Speed Pocket increases launch angle and provides more ball-speed protection on shots struck low on the clubface.

Geocoustic Technology

Optimal sound and feel are created by combining geometry and acoustic management in the overall design.

Fluted Hosel

The lighter design saves two grams of weight, allowing for the CG to be moved even lower.

What They're Saying ...

“The M2 is really designed for every golfer out there. It’s got forgiveness, it’s got distance, it’s easy to play. It’s got a great look and feel to it as well.”

Tomo Bystedt, TaylorMade Senior Director of Global Irons

“What we wanted to do was take all of the benefit we have and add some more. Add even more speed, more height, but then include something new, which is greater consistency.”

Josh Dipert, TaylorMade Product Engineer for Irons

“It was really important to add Face Slots on the new M2. We’re able to give distance, height, and now forgiveness as well. With our testing on the new M2 we found that your off-center hits are not dropping off as far as it would be without Face Slots.”

Josh Dipert, TaylorMade Product Engineer for Irons

TaylorMade Men's 2017 M2 Irons #4-AW Graphite is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 117.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Don't buy the negativity I have been waiting to write this review for almost the entire golf season because I have been waiting for one of the catastrophic happenings that reviews mention (heads flying off, faces caving in) to happen...and it's not happening. I am having a great experience with my M2's and have played them well over 70 times since March 2018. Ball striking is solid, high (sometimes really high), accurate and long. Ball flight is controllable to a degree, but these babies were made to go straight. Upgraded from RS1 steel to the Reax graphite and am at least a club and a half longer with these thanks to both the shaft and the strong lofts. The majority of the reviews I have read refer to the caving in of the heads and I was originally concerned. Well, if your clubhead speed is in excess of 100MPH, maybe these aren't for you and chopping wood might be a better hobby but if you're under 90 MPH you won't have a problem. Swing in control and the ball just jumps off the face. Hit it in the sweet spot and it feels like butter and sounds even better. I have really been pleased with this purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great irons for Seniors Love these clubs, I am 72 years old, regular graphite shafts. My former irons, Cobra, hit 6 iron 150, M2's hit 7 iron 150-155 off the grass. High ball flight, good spin and very forgiving.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Long and Foregiving TaylorMade knocked it out of the park with these irons a lot of forgiveness and very long , I had the kbs c-taper shafts put on mine and these are the best irons I've ever hit

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best distance and control I have ever had from any clubs! Gift from my children and my wife for Christmas ,also the M2 driver and the M2 3 wood and the very nice TaylorMade staff bag.The irons are so sweet that I have been hitting a PW from 155 and some times I back off a little. The driver is simply the best I have ever had plus hitting the M2 has gave me 30 extra and up to 50 extra yards when I commit and do not over swing(80%) with good posture . Huge sweet spot and forgiving as much as your grandmother !

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Definitely would NEVER purchase again. Horrible quality! The face slots cave in or break out. I have sent 3 clubs back in 7 months. Just poor quality from a major club manufacturer. Would never ever buy clubs with face slots again. EVER

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Still awaiting spring in the North Been hitting at indoor range and love the feeling of them. Once weather permitting will try outside

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easiest and Longest Irons EVER! These are by far the easiest to hit and longest irons I have ever hit. Very forgiving, and about a club to club-and-a-half longer than most perimeter-weighted irons. Not absurdly big at address like a lot of game-improvement irons. Long irons are so good that I have dropped hybrids from my bag! Be sure to get the AW because your PW will be a little too long for a lot of approach shots.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reliable feel. Just got back into golf and love the striking, distance, and accuracy.
