Q & A

PING Men's G400 Driver

  • PING had great success with its G30 and G drivers, each of which ranked among golf’s most forgiving drivers. But company engineers felt that there were still improvements that could be made, most notably in terms of ball speed and distance, which were the top priorities when it came to designing the new G400 driver.
  • The G400 features a more streamlined design and at 445cc there is 15 percent less drag created on the downswing, which equates to increased clubhead speed.
  • The clubface also has undergone a forging process that makes it thinner and more flexible without any loss of strength. More specifically, the face is six percent thinner and 16 percent more flexible, a combination that gives golfers more ball speed from all impact locations.
  • Even with the more streamlined, compact design, the G400 is even more forgiving than its predecessors and can claim more than 9,000 MOI points.

  • Fueling the high level of forgiveness is Dragonfly Technology, which enabled a lightweight crown and skirt that gave designers discretionary weight that was used to establish a low, deep CG position.
  • A strategically placed tungsten sole weight optimizes stability and launch conditions.
  • Also different for the G400 when compared to the G30 and G will be its sound and feel, which was another top priority for PING engineers. The G400 utilizes a new internal rib structure to deliver acoustics and feel that are more muted and crisp than was found in previous models.
  • As has been the case with recent PING driver releases, consumers will have three models to choose from. The standard G400 will fit the widest array of players and is available in lofts of 9 and 10.5 degrees.
  • It features a new stock shaft in the Alta CB, which is slightly counterbalanced to pair well with a heavier clubhead (206 grams) to maximize energy transfer at impact. PING does, however, offer additional aftermarket shaft options for players to choose from.
  • All G400 drivers also feature a lightweight, adjustable hosel that offers five settings to adjust loft by +/- 1 degree, as well as the driver’s lie angle, to help players optimize ball flight. The stock length for the PING G400 driver is 45.75 inches and the swingweight is D3.
  • Please note that the Tour 65 Graphite shaft option is 45.25 inches in length.
  • Includes headcover

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome purchase Bought this driver a month ago after testing a few others at Golf Galaxy. This had some of the best forgiveness and longest distance. The only drivers better were $200+ more, which was out of my price range.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So amazing Ever since I bought this I was hitting the longest and straitest drives of my life. Now I beat everyone and people question how I drive the ball so well. Now I can carry the ball over 220 yards with a total distance of up to 240 yards.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very forgiving I bought this club a few weeks ago and already I have the confidence to rip it down the fairway. A few times when I'd normally start to hang my head in shame because of a mishit, it actually ended up very playable. I've gained around 10 yards already and I assume as the weather warms up I'll get a few more yards added on. I really liked how TGW works with EBates so I could save a little more money in the long run too. Overall, a very satisfied customer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Pirchase I used a Taylor Made driver but I tried the G400 and the change was really satisfactory as I won 10/15 yards

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wow .. love the G400 I was in the market for a driver and went to the local golf shop to get fitted. They kept pushing me towards the callaway epic flash which I was hitting about 240 - 250 with a swing speed around 106 mph. I picked up the G400 and after a few warm up hits at the same swing speed I found I my distance was closer to 250-260.. Made my decision to purchase easy. Took it out on the course for the first time yesterday. Found my drives were straighter and further then previous. What also impressed me was the miss hits left me in great positions with solid distance. I didn’t have Ping on my radar with choosing a driver but after purchasing the G400 you can call me converted.. love this driver!

whats the difference from regular flex to soft flex?

Asked by: domino327
The soft regular flex is lighter and more flexible for slower swing speeds. It's PING's equivalent to a senior flex.

The G400 Max driver has a deeper profile at address and different internal weighting to make it a higher-MOI driver with added forgiveness and stability.
