Q & A
While Cobra’s Forged One Length irons are generating significant discussion based on their unique concept, the standard, progressive version of the iron, the KING Forged Tour, is another quality offering from Cobra in the players club category. Exceptional feel, compact blade shapes, thin toplines, and minimal offset are all a part of the Forged Tour package, but these are also irons that deliver more forgiveness than one might expect thanks to a cavity design and tungsten weighting that has been utilized in the toe and heel along the sole of the club. In addition to being forged from soft 1025 Carbon Steel, a Thermoplastic Polyurethane Insert has been positioned in the cavity to dampen vibrations and enhance feel. Additionally, CNC milling through the set generates maximum spin for optimal playability. The stock shaft for the Forged Tour irons is the KBS Tour FLT and the standard grip is a Lamkin Crossline.

Low- and mid-handicap golfers. Aesthetically, the Forged Tour looks the part of an iron that was designed for an elite ball-striker, but these irons also deliver from a forgiveness standpoint, which is why they won’t only fit better players. Where this irons excels, however, is in terms of feel, workability, and control, attributes that will appeal to lower handicappers. For players who aren’t quite sure that this is the iron for them but value feel and a clean, compact look, Cobra’s KING Forged Tec iron would also warrant consideration.
Strategic positioning of tungsten weights in the heel and toe create higher MOI and a lower CG placement for consistent flight conditions.
An insert made of Thermoplastic Polyurethane is positioned behind the sweet spot to improve feel and acoustics at impact.
A five-step forging process using soft 1025 Carbon Steel enables superior shape and feel.
“They’re extremely solid irons. The feel is fantastic; the ball flight’s good. I liked them.”
TGW customer Brad, +2 handicap
“These look great and feel even better. I felt like I got good performance on my mis-hits but I still got the feedback that (the strike) wasn’t perfect, so it’s the best of both worlds.”
