Q & A
Enhanced playability is the name of the game when it comes to Cobra’s new KING F7 driver, as a larger overall footprint is being utilized to provide more confidence at address, increased forgiveness, and better overall performance. When compared to its F7+ stablemate, in addition to its larger profile, the F7 will also produce slightly more spin and a higher ball flight, as well as a natural draw bias. From a technological standpoint, the F7 utilizes three moveable weights that can be positioned in different ports to create three distinct CG placements depending on an individual player’s needs. More specifically, moving the heaviest weight forward will result in lower spin and launch, while utilizing the heavier weight in the back of the clubhead will produce higher launch conditions and max forgiveness. The heaviest weight can also be positioned in the heel to help promote a draw bias. Also of note, a lightweight Carbon Fiber crown allows weight to be positioned lower and deeper in the clubhead to create higher launch, lower spin, and maximum forgiveness, while the new variable thickness clubface produces higher ball speeds and maintains that speed on mis-hits. The KING F7 driver also features COBRA CONNECT, an electronic tracking device powered by Arccos that’s embedded in the grip and allows players to track distance and accuracy for each tee shot they play. Cobra’s MyFly SmartPad adjustable hosel, meanwhile, enables lofts ranging from 9-12 degrees, as well as three draw settings. Its stock shaft is the Fujikura Pro 60, which is a mid-launch, mid-spin offering.

Players of all ability levels. The F7 driver earns strong marks for producing high launch conditions, low spin rates, and impressive forgiveness, attributes that equate to distance and will benefit driving performance for most golfers. That said, for high-spin players who need help in reducing their spin rates or players who desire a lower ball flight and greater workability, the F7+ is also worthy of serious consideration.

The crown being 20 percent lighter enables weight to be moved to create a lower, deeper CG that generates more distance and higher MOI.
Moveable weights produce three distinct CG settings that allow players to optimize their launch, spin, and flight conditions.
Variable face thickness creates a thinner, hotter face that produces faster ball speeds from all impact points.
“The thing that stood out to me compared to the previous model was the feel. I felt like Cobra made some real improvements in terms of acoustics. You really get that soft, sort of muted feel, which was outstanding.”
