Best you can get
It's still the benchmark. The hype is correct. If you are a low handicap golfer, the pro v's are the best all-around ball available. The good thing is, everybody wants to play them, so most of us can find two or three newbies in woods every round.

Only The Best
Bar far the Pro V series is the best ball out there, it has it all!

Best ball in golf
Great ball. I've played the proV and the V1x for more than 8 years now. The only thing that still hasn't improved is the durability. A solid 52 degree still scars the ball but it does spin better than anything else I've tried(Srixon)(Nike)(Bridgstone)

I have always been a fan of the V1x due to the length and low spin off the driver. However, for me what I loved about the V1x off the tee worked against me on close approach shots and around the green (not enough spin). For me, the V1had just the opposite combination. I went to other manufacturers (Srixon Z*, Bridgestone B330, Taylormade TP) trying to find the combination that I wanted. Well all roads have lead back to Titleist with this new 2013 model. I can now maintain my desired distance off the tee but also can spin the shots that I need too close and around the green. What has been a pleasant surprise is how well this ball putts. It has a great soft "feel" but is still firm enough for a consistence roll. Durability is sufficient. Not the best (Srixon) and not the worst (orig V1).
The only real "gripe" I have is the cost. But that can be said about all of them. I know it's a premium ball, but if they sold them under $40, more than likely they would get more money out of me buying more balls than playing with the same one a little longer trying to save a dollar or 4......
