Callaway Mens X Forged Irons
Go for it
These irons were a huge step and a challenge I'm glad I took on. My previous irons got great reviews, and everyone agreed that for distance and forgiveness, they couldn't be beat at that price.
But here's the thing: I didn't want forgiveness. I wanted to stop sinning in the first place. I had been practicing my irons mostly with a nice blade 6-iron I had a clubfitter friend of mine make for me. It was rough going at first, but once you've gotten used to the shotmaking possibilities and the sweet smack of a good muscleback, it's hard to go back.
It took me a couple of weeks to get used to them--I was also using 6.5 shafts for the first time--and the sweet spot feels like a quarter in size, but man do I love these clubs. I didn't realize how much until a coupla weeks ago when I had about 160 to the flag, but was in the treeline off the L side of the fairway--couldn't even see the green. Huge bunker on the right side. Any kind of game-improvement club, no shot except punching it out and hoping to run a little up the apron. These clubs: I could actually hook a high draw and maybe even save par. I didn't save par, but I executed the shot to about 20 feet onto the fringe of the apron.
Someone with a lot of experience told me once that if you're a serous golfer, you should always be working two bags--the one you're currently playing, and the one you *want* to play. As great as these clubs are, I'm already looking forward to the new APEX musclebacks.
As a long-time Callaway customer, I am very pleased with the new developments.

My son loves his irons
My 14 year old loves these buttery irons. The pxi shafts are pretty sweet too.

This is my 1st review on his site after ordering a few items and a couple of sets of clubs, just to let those who may be scared to try blades. I really like these clubs. I'm a 18 handicap and just started playing regularly a few months ago. I was playing Xhot pro clubs but tried a friends MB clubs and they felt good so i figured I'd try some of Callaway ' s blades. These felt good on the 1st swing, so i ordered them from the pre owned site. Never thought I'd be playing blades in my life time. Thanks Callaway. Now if I can only find a driver that I can hit consistently ;-)

Feel and workability
I traded up from a set of X20 Tour irons, which I really liked, but I wanted a little more feel and the ability to work the ball a little more. Using these clubs is like throwing darts - amazingly accurate when you hit it on the screws. Miss-hit it, however, and you will know it immediately by the feel and decreased distance. I think this has helped my game by being more aware of how I'm striking each shot.
Before buying, I read a a lot of reviews on the web and saw quite a few indicating that only single digit handicappers should buy these. I was carrying a 13 handicap when I bought these. After 7 rounds using these clubs, I'm pretty sure my new handicap will now he in the single digits. I broke 80 for the first time and had a number of rounds just a few strokes off that. All this from a change in clubs, you ask? Maybe it's in my head, but I have to think these irons made a huge difference.
