My review for the AirFlow, and Highland Jackets.
I live in Yuma, AZ and play golf all year, even in the summer when temperatures are over 100 degrees. In November I played in a two-day tournament, and we had heavy rain on the first day, and that round was cancelled, the next day it was extremely cold and windy, and I did not have the proper golf outerwear to be comfortable in.
Living in the desert, the need for warm golf jackets and rain gear is not the norm, but after that tournament I researched on the web to see what to buy for those cold windy and rainy days in the winter.
I read many reviews from other manufactures websites about there rain gear, and read reviews for Zero Restriction, Sun Mountain, Sunice, and others.
I chose to buy the Zero Restriction Michelle Jacket and Pants from two different websites that had a great sale price for my waterproof rainwear that is GoreTex with a lifetime warranty on the waterproofing.
I still needed a warm jacket and a wind jacket for the days that it is still cool, but not raining.
I found at TGW a great sale price on two jackets made by Zero Restriction. I called the company to ask the girl how the fit was to compare several jackets that I was interested in, and she recommended the Ladies Softshell Highland Wind Jacket and the Ladies Airflow Jacket that is a lighter weight.
I got the Softshell Highland jacket in Orchid Pink which is a great color, in a medium for a range size of 8 to 10.
I am 5”3” tall with short arms, and legs, and I found that the Michelle jacket arms were a bit long, and the pant legs were also a bit long, but there is no way to shorten these items because of the zippers on the pants and the snaps on the cuffs. This is a great outfit, and I will use it in bad weather and be warm and dry.
As far as the Highland jacket, the sleeve length is even longer than the Michelle jacket, and goes almost to my thumbs, so I have to roll up the sleeves to play golf. The liner is great and warm and while the sleeves are not straight, they have more elbow room which you can see by the photo on the TWG website.
I mentioned this jacket to my friend who plays golf in our ladies league, and she ordered the black jacket but returned it because of the fit of the sleeve length and more elbow room and got a different jacket.
I will now add my comments for the Ladies Airflow jacket that I bought a week later at TGW. I also got this in a medium, and again the sleeve length is very long; I have to turn up almost three inches on the sleeves so that I can play golf. Again, the Airflow jacket is a light weight wind jacket that is water repellent with a DWR finish, which is why I chose this jacket over the others. The jacket is great, it does not get in the way to make a nice swing and it is not bulky.
All of my Zero Restriction outerwear garments are excellent in quality, and workmanship, and since I have not washed any of them yet, I believe if I follow the label on washing that they will come out excellent.
Because I did not want to return these jackets because of the long sleeve length, I decided to take them to a seamstress to have both jackets sleeves shorten to fit me better. She is only charging me $20.00 to do both jackets, and she is even keeping the storm flap that both jackets have at the cuffs which I asked her if she could save that and she said yes.
When I was talking to the ladies that I play golf with about their outerwear, most of us that are shorter have the same problem with the sleeves being too long, so I don’t think it is just the Zero Restriction jackets because most of them have to accommodate the medium size range of 8 to 10.
Also, when I was playing in the golf tournament in the rain with my regular Foot Joy golf glove it was not good, and so I order the Zero Restriction Ladies rain gloves but have not used them yet, but when it does rain I will be prepared. I also ordered the Ladies Foot Joy WinterSof golf gloves because of the cold temperatures in the winter in the early mornings when I play with our ladies league. I am a 18 handicap and play golf four times a week, sometimes 36 holes at my home course.
I am now ready for any bad weather during the winter in Arizona with the items above, but I much prefer the warm, sunny hot weather in the spring and summer for golfing.
